Bunte Kirsche

Width at front: c. 2.80 metres

The Bunte Kirsche was built in 1604. It was created as a subdivision of its neighbour, the Haus an der Pforte. Possibly the occupants of the two houses were related.
With its width of c. 2.80 metres the Bunte Kirsche was one of the smaller houses in the Judengasse. The house had up to ten inhabitants, a relatively small number compared to many other houses. They were primarily active as clothes dealers.
In the great fires in the Judengasse in 1711, 1721 and 1796 the house was destroyed three times. It was rebuilt after the first two fires, but after the 1796 fire it was decided to redevelop the entire northern end of the Judengasse on spacious lines, in the course of which the house disappeared finally.
