Samuel Ben Zwi

Samuel ben Zwi from Cracow held the office of chief rabbi of Frankfurt from 1690 to 1703. He lived in the official rabbis' residence at the house Eichel. He had a reputation as an outstanding scholar. He published a series of commentaries on the Talmud in Frankfurt which have preserved their importance to the present day. His edition of the Talmud was first published in 1721, and was printed partly in Frankfurt and partly in Amsterdam.
